HW 11/19
This whole class was like a big process that led to Assignment 3. Everything we did before the Assignment was so that Assignment 3 becomes as easier it can be. Also just how this whole process let to this essay there were small things that we did in our homework to that helped us form an integral part of this course for ex: Assignment 1 and 2 were purely based on how our thought process worked during our homeworks pre assignment. Everything just made it easy to write essays and we basically learned how to think, research and then present it as your idea and make your issues or thinking process legitimate.
Assignment 2 Final Draft
CL 11/19
What are the age, gender, and economic status of your target audience?
People in their adolesence, teenagers bot male and female. People with no specific economic status, anyone who can afford to use vaping products or traditional cigarettes.
What interests, beliefs, and values might they bring to your topic and thesis?
Their interest is to be dependent on vaping and E-cigarettes and believing that using it is cool and cannot affect their daily lives. However, I dont think teens would bring any kind of values to my topic and thesis.
Theises – Is vaping really a better substitute for traditional cigarettes and why people use it even if there are no proven benifits of both?
Examine possible reasons:
Key terms from thesis- The discussion between vaping being a better substitute for cigarettes and vice versa. Also, does vaping affect your body less than traditional cigarettes or is it a myth. If there are no better substitutes for it then is it really necessary to use such products and eventually risk your life by becoming addicted to it.
Thesis reason- I believe vaping is not a better substitute for traditional cigarettes is because both those things have the same effect and there is nothing in vaping that restricts the damage that a traditional cigarette can do and therefore for anyone using these products it is recommeneded that they quit and that’s the only way possible to avoid health consequences.

Topic: Effects of Vaping and E-cigarettes.
While doing the research i realised that alot of people think that vaping is less harmful than smoking traditional cigarettes which is completely wrong. I learned that Vaping or smoking traditional cigarettes have almost the same kind of effects on the body. Also, I believe that people need to know more about these kinds of products before they start using it which as of now is not the case.
I think this issue made me learn alot about how any kind of smoking and vaping is only bad for you and are certainly gateways to other things similar to it.
Theises – Is vaping really a better substitute for traditional cigarettes?

- “E-cigarette Flavoring.” NYTimes.com Video Collection, 20 May 2018. Gale In Context: Opposing Viewpoints, https://link.gale.com/apps/doc/CT540891972/OVIC?u=ucinc_main&sid=OVIC&xid=4d573243. Accessed 21 Oct. 2019.
Summarize- This video tells us about the effects of a chemical found I common E-Cigarettes “Cinnamaldehyde”. Researchers say it is a chemical found in traditional cigarettes and harms the cilia in the lungs and restricts it from doing its job. It also impairs basic mitochondrial functions such as providing cells with energy.
Asses – I think this is a useful source to know how vaping can affect our body. It is informative and tells us that even common flavors like cinnamon can be bad to inhale as an aerosol liquid.
Reflect- I think this source is important to my issues as it tells specifically what kind of flavors can affect our body and in what ways it can affect it.
- “E-Cigarettes: A Dangerous Trend: The growing popularity of vaping devices is putting teens’ health at risk.” Choices/Current Health, Mar. 2019, p. 22+. Gale In Context: Opposing Viewpoints, https://link.gale.com/apps/doc/A579995038/OVIC?u=ucinc_main&sid=OVIC&xid=be0c8185. Accessed 21 Oct. 2019.
Summarize – This article tells people about the increasing use of E-Cigarettes and informs us that it is harmfull to our lungs and can cause various types of cancers. It also tells us that Vaping and E-cigarettes are not a healthy substitue for Cigarettes, both have somewhat the same effects onour lungs and body as a whole. However, to restrict teens from smoking Juuls and other similar vaping products the government is planning to regulate the sales and prices of these products.
Asses- I think this source is reliable and is informative alot of its contents are not something that people have not heard before so I think it is legitimate and useful for my research in knowing the kinds of effects various products can have on teens. Also, it tells us how we can restrict teens to consume this product by regulating it.
Reflect- This source will help my research in aspects like knowing ways we can decrease the usage of these products among teens specially. This also tells us the effects it can have on people using these products long term and short term.

E-cigarettes and Heart Health.” NYTimes.com Video Collection, 10 Sept. 2017. Gale In Context: Opposing Viewpoints, https://link.gale.com/apps/doc/CT505620565/OVIC?u=ucinc_main&sid=OVIC&xid=0bf350b0. Accessed 22 Oct. 2019.
Summarizing- This video is about a study conducted where 15 young men and women were asked to vape for 30 minutes of their day with nicotine containing vapes and then again 30 minutes with vapes that did not conatin nicotine and results were reflected.
Assesing- This study is useful for my issue in knowing the effects nicotine has on the heart of a vape user. The study showed that after smoking the nicotine product for 30 minutes the participants experienced increases in all three cardiovascular measurements. And on another day participants did the same thing expects they smoked products that did not contain nicotine. Results showed no change in the cardiovascular measurements. This shows how dangerouse nicotine alone can be in vaping or smoking.
Reflecting- This source helps me to prove that nicotine can indeed trigger long term heart problems and it is one of the parts of my study. It helps me to know how vaping products with nicotine affect the heart and its side effects, a part of study in my issue.
Initiative, Truth. “JUUL e-Cigarettes Gain Popularity among Youth, but Awareness of Nicotine Presence Remains Low.” Truth Initiative, Truth Initiative, 18 Apr. 2018, truthinitiative.org/press/press-release/juul-e-cigarettes-gain-popularity-among-youth-awareness-nicotine-presence.
Summarising- This website’s article about JUUL is giving information about an issue which alot of people neglect. It is about what JUUL really is and how its contents like for ex: Nicotine. It shows a survey condudcted where people knew what JUUL is but did not know that its flavours cotain nicotine and the amounts of it.
Reflecting- This source helps me to know one more reason about why there is an increasing use of vaping products and that educating people about products like this before they can use or consume it is an important part and most importantly ethical. The youth is unaware about the consequences of JUUling or vaping. Maybe, after knowing more about it the rates would decrease.
Assesing-This source is reliable and comes from an recongnized organization which worked towards spreading information about how E-cigarrettes and vaping are harmful to teens and the society. It is a reliable source but more importantly it is a source that will play a very important role in my issue.
